I am a graduate student in the Neuroscience Program (NSP) at UIUC.
I went to Wayne State University (Detroit, Michigan) for my undergrad, where I completed a Bachelors in Biological Sciences with a minor in Chemistry. I also earned a Masters from Wayne in Molecular Biology & Genetics.
Currently, my research interests include the impact of environmental factors on DNA and its relation to mental health outcome later in life. One of my research projects involves investigating the impact of childhood maltreatment and depression on both DNA methylation and gene expression by using both a candidate gene and genome wide approach.
When I am not in the lab, I fill my time with family, friends, music, and being active (typically running).
